Costs and Contracts
How to Request Flock Camera Records
If your city has Flock cameras, the paper trail is usually the fastest way to understand the real program.
What to request
Ask for contracts, order forms, amendments, renewals, invoices, staff memos, council packets, grant documents, camera-location records, policy manuals, retention settings, sharing settings, audit logs, and search-count summaries.
You may not receive everything. Agencies can redact sensitive details or deny some records under local law. But a precise request gives you a cleaner answer and makes it harder for the agency to pretend the program is too vague to explain.
How to write the request
Name the city, police department, Flock Safety, Flock Group Inc., automated license plate readers, ALPR, camera locations, hotlists, data sharing, audit logs, and retention policies. Ask for electronic delivery and a fee estimate before processing if fees exceed a small amount.
Keep the request narrow enough to process but broad enough to catch the real contract documents. The FOIA generator on this site gives you a starting point.
